What you need to know
In small doses anger is another normal, appropriate, and healthy emotion. Everyone feels angry at times and it can help us to stand up for ourselves or for things that are wrong.
Anger becomes a problem if you start to let it out in ways that are harmful to yourself or other people. It is hard to keep up with healthy relationships if you often have angry outbursts.
Try other ways to calm yourself down:
- Taking deep breaths will slow down your heart rate
- Pause and think – changing your thoughts about the situation may help change how you feel and what you do
- Exercise
- Try relaxation techniques or listen to some music.
